If you are a blogger using WordPress there are several plug-ins you should be using. If you are looking to start using WordPress you need to have several plug-ins in order to get the most out of your experience. WordPress makes it very easy to manage a blog without having to have a lot of technical experience and competence. I have been using WordPress on my blogs for over a year and strongly recommend it to anyone is a blogger or looking to become one.

The following is a list of my favorite Top 10 WordPress Plug-ins.


Akismet – This is an excellent way to prevent spam on your blog. You will need to sign up for an API key in order to use it. However, this is a simple process and everyone who has a WordPress blog should be using Akismet.

All in One SEO Pack – This plug-in is the best choice among users for making their blog SEO friendly. This will help you rank higher in search engines and beat out other blogs and websites that are competing against you.

WP-Polls – This plug-in allows you to create polls on your blog. This is a nice feature to allow for user interaction and understand your audience better.

Google XML Sitemaps – This plug-in helps your website be seen by search engines. It is important to be able to receive traffic from Google, MSN, Yahoo, Ask.com and this plug-in will help ensure that your blog is listed and found.

WordPress.com Stats – This plug-in keeps track of who is visiting your blog and what pages they are viewing. It tracks things such as page views, clicks, and referrals. The plug-in does require a WordPress API key in order to use.

Simple Tags – The plug-in helps to expand the current tag feature available in WordPress.

Subscribe To Comments – This plug-in allows your readers to subscribe to the comments on a particular post. This is useful if they feel they want to know about the discussion that is occurring.

CommentLuv – This Plug-in allows anyone who comments on your blog to generate a link to theirmost recent blog post. This is a nice feature and helps encourage discussion on your blog.

Robots Meta – This plug-in allows you to add robots meta tags to your blog and feed as well as no follow unnecessary links. It requires a little more technical knowledge than the other plug-ins, but it useful to help tweak your settings and achieve better rankings in Google.

WP Ajax Edit Comments – This plug-in allows anyone who is leaving comments on your blog to edit them for a few minutes in case they decide they want to modify it or notice they spelled something wrong.
