Over the years, WordPress has surely advanced. Back when WordPress came out, you would have to search websites to find a plugin you needed and then go through all of the hassle of uploading it to your server to use it. That is not the case anymore. With the newest versions of WordPress, you can quickly find any plugin you need and install it quickly. In this guide, I am going to walk you through quickly finding that plugin you need and show you how to install it. Make your way to your dashboard in WordPress and we will begin this awesome journey.

Open the Plugins Page

Once you are in your dashboard, you will need to open your Plugins page. You can do this by clicking the Plugins link on the left side of your dashboard.

Add New Plugins

Now you will need to find the button at the top of the Plugins page that says “Add New.” Click that button and your page will reload.

Searching for the Plugin You Need

You are now ready to search for the plugin that you are looking for. On this page, you will see the search box and the drop down box. You can enter what you are searching for in the box and if you want to change how WordPress searches, drop the box down and select another option. Click Search Plugins when you are ready to begin your search.

Locating and Installing Your New WordPress Plugin

On the following page, you will see the search results for whatever you searched for. Browse through the plugins and find the one you want to install. Under the name of the plugin, you will find the Install Now link which is what you need to click to start the installation. Once you click to install it, you will need to confirm that you want to install that particular plugin by clicking OK.

Activate Your Plugin

Your last step is to activate the plugin you just installed. You will be redirected to another page with a Activate Plugin link. Click that link and that will activate it. You’re all set!

That’s all there is to it. Simply search for the plugin you want, make your way through a couple of clicks of the mouse, and your new plugin is installed. It is so much better than it use to be.
